Rebecca J. Hogue is a writer who holds many other hats including blogger, lecturer, podcaster, instructional designer, breast cancer survivor, wife, and puppy-parent.
Rebecca J. Hogue published her first memoir, Never Knew I Wanted to be a Breast Cancer Survivor: A Young Survivor’s Story, in 2022. It is the story of a young survivor learning to cope with an unexpected diagnosis while learning to navigate a foreign medical system.
She has had several stories published in Wildfire Magazine and two stories publishing in Bay Area Young Survivor anthologies. She is the author and co-author of many academic articles on learning technology and open education. To support the courses she teaches, she has written a couple of open access textbooks.
She continues to blog about writing, travel, and her continuing lived experience as a breast cancer survivor.
In early 2026, she is launching a narrative podcast, Definitely Not Famous, in which she interviews memoirists who aren’t famous but have remarkable stories to tell.
She is working on a second memoir detailing an epic eight-month bike ride across the back roads of Canada.
She lives in Sin So’sepe’katik (Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada).
