by Catherine MacLaine
The story follows two timelines – one of her childhood growing up as an Expat in Tanzania and one as the adoptive parent of a neurologically divergent African cat.
Catherine is a great writer, who had me wondering what next with her new charge, while also kept me curious about life as a Canadian child growing up in Africa. Her stories make you feel like you are right there with her. I can imagine myself beside her sneaking eggs from the pantry to be entertained by the mongoose, and shaking with fear at a lion’s charge.
I’m not a cat lover, but I really enjoyed reading this book.
